Well, my story is long and dear to my heart. It lasts for over 20 years!!!! I was one of those original fans from the mid 1980's. My first real addiction started on a family vacation to Galveston. I was like eleven years old. I grabbed a "BOP" magazine for the car ride....and there they were....our boys!!! From the very beginning, my heart belonged to Jon....and it still does to this day. He was so mysterious and I have always been a sucker for older men!!!
I was a DIE HARD Blockhead, and suffered for it a lot of the time. I was pushed around, picked on, made fun of...and it never swayed my love for these guys. I went to concert after concert. My last concert was in August of 1989!!! The years passed, and I grew up. The guys went their separate ways, but I kept tabs on who I could. I would go to all of Donnie's movies, bought the solo records of Joe and Jordan.....hey, I even went to see Dancing with the Stars to see Joe. By the way, he chose my niece to pull on to the dance floor and sing to. It was a near death experience for me...hahahah.
And then one day in April.....my cell phone went nuts!!!! Text after text from friends and family telling me to watch the Today's Show. THEY WERE BACK TOGETHER?!?!?! I was working the morning they were performing on the show. One of my co-workers actually took a picture of me standing in front of the TV in our break room. I didn't see or hear anything during that moment. I was going to get a second chance to do this?!?!?! I could hardly bear the excitement. So, they came to Dallas....I had tickets....I was ready!!! My sister went to the concert with me b/c my friends now weren't really fans of the guys. Of course, I knew in my heart that I would run into one very special friend at the show. It took about 30 minutes and one beer to find her. JENNI! My best NKOTB friend in the entire world. The same girl that I used to make videos with to send to Donnie and Jon (we professed our love and dedication...not to mention we were officers of the fan club). The same girl who wore the same giant buttons to school that I did. The same girl that stood up with me against the "haters" in middle school. The same girl that I continued to inexplicably run into randomly over the years (including at the Dancing with the Stars show...we had a table right next to each other)! It was fate. My life as a Blockhead was official again. After the show, we found each other on the NKOTB website. Because of Jenni and the site, I have made some AMAZING friends, who I honestly think are some of the most bad ass women I have ever met. My love for these guys...for this group....has always been a journey. I have enjoyed every minute of it. NOW....I have one more thing that I MUST add to my list of NKOTB experiences. I MUST meet my Jon. I have to meet all of them. I am 31 years old now....I have waited for 20 years to meet these men. The time has come. 2009 will be the year that I FINALLY meet them. I am anxiously awaiting the announcement that they are coming back to Dallas. I have my posse who will support me when I walk through that curtain (and catch me if I faint:))
Bring it on DONNIE WAHLBERG! Dallas wants a piece of you....and we are ready.
